Safety

At Skyline Helicopters we prioritize safety through a robust Safety Management System (SMS) in place since 2001, complemented by annual Crew Resource Management (CRM) training for all crew members and ongoing human factors training for engineers.

We conduct Line Operational Safety Audits and maintain tailored Local Operating Procedures (LOP) and comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all operations.

Rigorous maintenance practices include live tracking of flight hours to ensure compliance with maintenance requirements, supported by our COR certification in Alberta and British Columbia.

The COR process requires employers to develop and implement a health and safety program that meets provincial standards. This process results in improved worker safety, reduced costs due to lost productivity, replacement worker training, property damage and incident investigation as well as reducing legal risk exposure.

Pilots receive specialized winter operations training covering critical surface contamination, reduced visibility, mountain flight, fuel management, and heli-ski operations, including safety case reviews and specific SOPs. Our experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers ensure high standards of safety and reliability.

Just Culture

Just Culture is a safety-focused approach that promotes a fair and open environment where employees feel safe to report errors or incidents without fear of punitive consequences. It balances accountability with learning, distinguishing between honest mistakes, at-risk behaviors, and reckless actions. By encouraging transparent reporting, Just Culture fosters trust and continuous improvement, enabling us to analyze incidents, identify systemic issues, and implement corrective measures. This approach ensures that individuals are supported through training or coaching when needed, while maintaining accountability for intentional violations, ultimately enhancing safety and operational reliability.
